The anime adaptation of Re: Zero − Starting Life in Another World is one of the best isekai series of all time. People are more excited for Re: Zero Season 3. First revealed at AnimeJapan 2023, this season is a new arc in Subaru Natsuki’s story and is being animated by White Fox again. Here’s everything we know so far, including the much-anticipated Re: Zero Season 3 release date, what the subsequent episodes are going to be about, and main production information.
Re: Zero Season 3 Release Date
The third season of Re: Zero is scheduled to begin October 2, 2024, and the follow-up program will be an initial 90-minute show. A few previews of this special episode were shown at the Anime Expo event on July 5, 2024, and the anime’s first episode began airing in Japan on August 30, 2024. Receiving fans’ expectations for Subaru’s subsequent challenges, the season is divided into two parts or courses.
First of them is Attack Arc (Shūgeki-hen) which will be aired from October 2, 2024, and includes eight episodes.
The second course, Counterattack Arc (Hangeki-hen) will also have eight episodes, starting from February 5, 2025.
This split-season format ensures that fans can fully immerse themselves in the rich and detailed storytelling synonymous with Re: Zero.
Which Arcs Will be in Season 3?
Although Arc 5 has been announced as the source of the season, there are some posters suggesting Arc 6 is to be included as well. This arc contains a feature that all the novel fans would appreciate – the main characters finally gather together to fight against the evil threatening the Water Gate City of Priestella, which is disclosed in Arc 5 – The Stars That Engrave History.
However, Arc 6, The Corridor of Memories, focuses on Subaru’s psychological and emotional aspects, several factors that make him quite a character. If these two arcs are addressed, the 3 seasons of the series will provide the viewers with suspense, action, and character development in equal measure.
Haruka Sagawa is given the role of the Character Designer.
One of the biggest highlights of this season is the recent series called Call of the Night featuring Haruka Sagawa as a character designer. Many people have regarded this decision as a new and essential win. Past seasons including season 2 had been criticised for having character model changes that were quite irregular. Thankfully after Sagawa comes on board this is rectified and characters are on model while maintaining enough fluidity for action sequences.
Returning cast members and new direction.

This season is under the director’s supervision by Masahiro Shinohara who replaces Masaharu Watanabe from the next season. As the series’ director and screenwriter, Shinohara will breathe a new life into the old ways of storytelling and pacing in anime. White Fox has consistently delivered exceptional animation for Re: Zero, and under Shinohara’s leadership, the studio looks poised to deliver more than anticipated.
Adding to the excitement are the opening and ending theme songs:
Opening Theme: “Reweave” by Konomi Suzuki
Ending Theme: “Nox Lux” by Myth & Roid
The Re beloves both artists: Zero community and are expected to start on the right note for this intense season.
Why Season 3 Is a Must-Watch
The next season is set to be a monumental one in Subaru’s story, where there shall be intense fight and action scenes, dramatic emotional scenes, and inspiring friendship scenes. With the potential adaptation of both Arc 5 and Arc 6, viewers can expect:
Major conflicts with a political background on the setting of the city of Priestella.
The big emotions as Subaru struggles personally and becomes a far more powerful character.
An expansion of several beloved characters which include Emilia, Rem, and Beatrice.
Moreover, thanks to the split-cour format there is no excess of episodes within one course, and no scarce amount of episodes within several classes thus, allowing for a more immersive experience.
