In Re: Zero – Starting Life in Another World one can find a remarkable mixture of mystery and uniqueness in its geographical makeup and cultural expressions along with historical vestiges. Unlike Earth, Re: Zero World Map is not round, but it has flat surfaces that end at massive cliffs through which running water plunges into an abyss named the Great Waterfall. The Re: Zero world is divided into four major nations together with smaller kingdoms which are all distinct by their traditions, societal systems and administrative frameworks. In this blog, we explore the Re: Zero world map, its geography, water sources, and the cultures of its nations.
Geography: A Land Shaped by the Witch of Envy
Re: Zero World Map
The Re: Zero Earth divides into multiple areas while the four powerful kingdoms occupy most of its established territory. The Witch of Envy triggered the Great Calamity which destroyed half of the known world through her devastating spell known as the Great Calamity. This event reconfigured the geographical structure shown before it while obliterating numerous informational elements related to past world conditions.

The known continent is divided as follows:
Gusteko – located in the barren, snow-covered areas of the north.
Vollachia – Situated in the fertile lands of the south.
Kararagi stands as the western continent with distinctive independence in both cultural traditions and economic freedom.
Lugunica – Occupying the eastern side of the continent. It is home to almost 50 million people.
Multiple smaller independent nations extending between larger kingdoms create their cultures while living according to different customs.
The Absence of Oceans and the Role of Water
One of the most intriguing aspects of the Re: zero world without ocean bodies or significant seas constitutes. The world possesses numerous lakes and rivers in addition to water streams that spread across its surface.
The Great Tigracy River represents the largest water body because it runs through all four major nations, most of its path converting in Kararagi and Gusteko. Due to its immenseness, the river appears like an ocean.
Notable water-based locations include:
Priestella, the Watergate City – Built on a tributary lake, heavily dependent on its waterways for commerce and daily life.
Ginunhive, the Gladiator Island, is located in the middle of a lake, but unlike Priestella, it is filled with dangerous witchbeasts.
Some of the world’s lakes contain saltwater despite oceans being nonexistent in the world which provides vital resources to its population.
The Four Great Nations and Their Unique Cultures
Each of the four major nations in Re: Zero stands apart because it contains unique governmental institutions along with characteristic cultural practices and standard rules of behaviour.
1. The Dragon Kingdom of Lugunica
Lugunica operates as a feudal monarchic system similar to the political structure found in medieval European kingdoms. It relies on a noble class to govern, and keep rich and poor people strictly separated.
Lugunica carries historical racial conflicts between human beings and demi-human beings that were based on past conflicts The tensions between these groups have shown gradual signs of improvement in recent times.
2. The Vollachia Empire
Power along with physical strength decides individual standing in the Vollachia Empire which is a militaristic nation. In this society noble status does not exist as personal growth through combat together with ambitious conduct stands as the pathway to achieving social standing.
This “might-makes-right” philosophy means that civil wars frequently break out whenever leadership changes, making the empire unstable but also incredibly powerful in battle.
3. The Kararagi City States
Kararagi works differently from other nations as it does not have central government power. The territory functions as an assortment of free states that base their operation on trade rather than political control.
Kararagi’s culture is strongly influenced by feudal and early-modern Japan, with a Kansai-like dialect, Japanese-style architecture, and a love for traditional Japanese food. The lack of government regulations also means that slavery and mercenary work are common.
4. The Holy Kingdom of Gusteko
Gusteko is a theocratic state ruled by a religious order. Its people worship spirits and follow strict religious doctrines. While it outwardly bans slavery and claims to be free of racial discrimination, in reality, prejudice and secret slavery still exist.
The extreme weather and rough conditions of the land have made its people hardened, and sometimes even violent. Gusteko is famous for serial killers, proof of its very brutal lifestyle.
